REEV stands for Range Extended Electric Vehicle. The wheels are driven entirely by an electric motor, so the car always drives like an EV. A small petrol engine works purely as a generator, producing electricity to top up the battery when it runs low. The engine never drives the wheels directly.

No. You can plug in to charge and run on battery alone for everyday city driving, which is the cheapest way to operate the car. But charging is optional, not required. When the battery is low, the onboard generator takes over and you simply refuel with petrol as normal. This matters in Pakistan, where public charging is still limited outside the major cities.

In most hybrids the petrol engine drives the wheels some of the time, so you feel it engage and disengage. In a REEV the electric motor always drives the wheels, so power delivery stays smooth and quiet regardless of battery level. The petrol engine only ever generates electricity.

Yes. Combined range is the reason the technology exists. Because you refuel at any petrol pump rather than hunting for a charger, motorway routes between cities are no different from driving a conventional car. Published combined range figures are listed on each model page.
